Thoughts & Feedback On Our Latest eNewsletterSubmitted by Jedi Wright on April 16, 2008 - 09:47.
We sent out our monthly fabric eNewsletter a few days back and wanted to address one customer's concerns over it.
This customer was deeply offended by our newsletter, stating: "I have just about had enough with companies like yours that pander to the blame America campaign. Our footprint in the world is freedom. Oil and free markets are the engine of freedom. Our earth has been here for billions of years and if we tried to destroy it ........impossible. I am not participating in recession encouraging tactics that your company supports and yes, I do alot of internet shopping. Your email sounds very self righteous and not supporting of others your industry. Of course, the real goal is to increase YOUR sales by encouraging guilt. I don't buy into your company's premise or mentality." So perhaps we could/should have rephrased our verbage in this last eNewsletter, sometimes in our excitement over our latest once-a-month newsletter we forget to take a good, hard look at how some people might feel about what we're saying. Generally, this is not an issue since we're just talking about new fabrics or services on our site, but occasionally we might make it a little personal, a little representative of some of our beliefs. And since we're a small company with no legal counsel on board to screen every email, newsletter or blog posting we make, we end up crossing boundaries with some people. I would note however, that we are the first, major internet fabric store to work on greening its footprint and are hoping to influence our competitors to do the same, just like we have with many other firsts in our operation: blog, product photography style and more. So we thought this (our newsletter and its discount) was a good opportunity for those that do believe in these issues, to make a small change and difference. But hey we're really just people here too, just a handful of people really. We do the best we can to accommodate our customers but sometimes we upset a few. To those we have upset, you have our apologies. As always, your opinions and feedback are welcomed and encouraged.
